Since the Dresden International Schools' student numbers increased rapidly, there was an urgent need for DIS students to learn in purpose built facilities that will enhance their achievement levels. The school moved into new facilities, the former »Annengymnasium« at the Annenstrasse 9 (01067 Dresden), at the beginning of the year 2008 which united grade 1 -12 and the 5/6 year old students.
This allows the Dresden International School to promote the economic and cultural development of Saxony as the need for its services continues to expand among its multinational clientile.
The project was planned by Bauconzept Planungsgesellschaft mbH und Dr. Thomas Schmidt - ics immobilien consult Dr. Schmidt.
The new DIS school site provides larger classrooms, cafeteria, sports facilities, library and specialized learning areas for science, art, performing arts and technology. The central location in the Altstadt allows DIS to become an International Cultural and Recreational Centre. The school building at Goetheallee 18 is used for some Early Primary classes.
The costs were approximately 12 Mill. Euro. Funding for the new school project came from different sources: Subsidies from the Freestate of Saxony; Bank Loan and own resources. We have to invest approx. 4.3 Mill. Euro so we started a fundraising initiative almost two years ago to raise at least 1.3 Mill. Euro. Donations are an important part of it. Donors will have the satisfaction of being part of an institution that bolsters the economic, social and cultural development of Saxony. They will receive the recognition, appreciation and due respect for their commitment to this unique and worthwile cause.
They can proudly assist DIS to be a door to the world for Dresden and a door to Dresden for the world.

On Thursday, 26th April 2007 we were celebrating our Topping Out Ceremony for the Annen Campus school building project together with the Saxon Minister for Economics Thomas Jurk, the US General Consul Mark D. Scheland and almost 200 guests. 38 DIS students who were representing our 38 nations raised 38 balloons. We especially want to thank the "Ostsächsischen Sparkasse Dresden" for the € 25.000 donation which will be used for the new Primary School Building. Mrs Klein (OSD) gave us the first books for the library.
Maja Götting (Gr. 11) read the English rhyme. A representative of the Hans Müller GmbH read the German "Richtspruch".
An excerpt of the rhyme:
"Thus this structure with ceremony is dedicated by the builders, for the people, That the building there created would serve for many years to come the needs of its community, and show the care of Dresden International School for the students in its family."
