Information evening: IB Diploma or Abitur?

05.03.2012

For many families, the question of whether the International Baccalaureate Diploma or the Abitur is the best path for their child is a crucial question.

Should my child stay at DIS through grade 12 or will a transfer to the German state school system better serve his or her needs? This is a tough question and we want to help you make the best choice.

On Tuesday, March 5th, 2012 at 7:00 pm (DIS cafeteria) in English and German the school personnel will present information pertinent to families facing educational choices for their children.

We will address questions, like:

  • What is the difference between the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the Abitur?
  • How well is the IB Diploma recognized in Germany and around the world?
  • Does the IB Diploma prepare students well for university and for life after school?
  • How well do DIS students general perform in the IB Diploma?
  • Where do current DIS graduates study?
  • How can I tell if my child is likely to succeed in the IB Diploma?
  • How can I tell if my child is better suited for an international school or a German state school?

Naturally, the best school for your child is an issue that includes aspects of personality, learning preferences and future plans. We cannot decide for any family which school they should choose, but we can provide useful information that can assist in ensuring that the choice you make is the right one.

The program on March 5th will be formulated with parents of children in grades 3, 4 and 5 in mind, however, parents of children in other grade levels are also welcome to attend.

No reservations are necessary, but please plan to arrive on-time, as we will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.
