Primary Years ProgrammeThe Primary Years Programme (PYP) is the basis for our curriculum in grades 1–5 as well as in kindergarten class (K5) and focuses on an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning.
Our PYP provides the first part of an internationally recognised educational framework for the primary years, one that has been used successfully all over the world. The program is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. These guidelines are in operation in state sponsored or private internationally minded schools throughout the world.
The PYP of the Dresden International School focuses on the total child in a supportive environment. From day one your child is encouraged to take part in school life in a self-confident and active manner. Learning, individual and group projects go hand in hand. Rather than divide our curriculum into standard course subjects, themes are taught in a transdisciplinary manner. This holistic approach inspires students to be curious and open-minded, both inside and outside of the classroom.
