We offer an outstanding education from Preschool to Grade 12. The school is divided into three sections, with co-curricular activities spread across Primary and Secondary School. Our curriculum is based on the programme and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
We see it as our responsibility to encourage communication between different cultures as well as the individual talents of young people. Through close cooperation between subject teachers and small class sizes, we ensure the promotion of academic achievement for all of our students.
1 to 6 years
The Preschool Programme at Dresden International School focuses on the whole child in a supportive, enriching environment where play-based inquiry is facilitated by highly skilled teachers. Our programme provides the first part of an internationally recognised educational framework for young learners, one that has been used successfully all over the world.

Grades 1-5
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides an international curriculum for children in Grades 1-5. Within the framework of the programme, we take an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning.

Our Primary School provides an international education for students in Grades K-5 at the modern school campus in the heart of Dresden.
Grades 6-12
We offer an outstanding educational programme in English language up to Grade 12. As a certified IB World School, our educational programme follows the high standards set by the International Baccalaureate Organization. Our students can choose from a range of internationally recognised finishing degrees depending on their individual career path.
Teachers, parents and external providers offer a range of co-curricular activities. Starting after the last period, our students can take advantage of a daily supplementary educational and recreational programme. With our various clubs, we aim to strengthen our students’ personalities and promote collaboration.
Our University and Careers Counselling Team provides students and parents with support when selecting and applying for further education or other vocational pathways.
DIS teachers hail from all across the globe. Over 20 nationalities are represented among our staff, approx. 50% with 10 or more years of teaching experience and 5 years of average tenure. Our teachers all have at least a Bachelor's degree, and many hold a Master's or PhD - as well as a teaching certificate. They are highly professional, child-focused, warm, caring and supportive. All DIS teachers are also certified for teaching the International Baccalaureate PYP/MYP/DP curriculums, and many have continued and developed their IB knowledge to now serve as trainers for others.

The preschool students (ages 1-5) learn in a beautiful, historic villa with large grounds in Dresden-Blasewitz. The environment is child centred, based on best early childhood learning practices provided by highly qualified, dedicated and caring staff.
Students from Kindergarten and from Grade 1 to Grade 12 study at the school campus in Dresden-Altstadt. The modern campus facilities with a large sports hall offer excellent opportunities for students to progress in their learning successfully at all ages.
