Students have the opportunity to do a 2-week-internship ("Betriebspraktikum") at the end of grade 9. The students look for a placement according to their interests and future plans. They go through an application process. If they need help, the internship coordinator will support them. The benefits of this Betriebspraktikum programme are:
- It introduces students to the working life outside of school and thus helps them with their orientation regarding their future career.
- It teaches students some of the skills and social competences which are necessary in a professional environment.
- It provides them with all the tools they need in order to apply on their own future internships.
The students work 10 days in the companies, followed by 2 days in school preparing their reflections and a presentation for a thank you event for the companies. Grade 9 students receive an extra internship report card based on this experience.
