Groundbreaking

On June 18, DIS reached an exciting milestone in its journey: we celebrated the official groundbreaking of the new extension building on our school grounds. Held on campus at Annenstr. 9, the event brought together Primary and Secondary students and teachers, staff, families, and guests in a joyful celebration of growth, community, and shared vision. We also had the pleasure of welcoming special guests, including the DIS Board, the Saxon State Minister of Education Conrad Clemens, and Dresden’s Mayor of Education Jan Donhauser.

Thoughtful and inspiring speeches captured the heart of the occasion. School leaders and invited speakers reflected on the values that have shaped DIS and the exciting possibilities the new building will bring. More than just a construction project, the expansion represents a bold step toward a future where innovation, learning, and international-mindedness continue to thrive at the heart of Dresden.

The new building is scheduled to open in Winter 2027 and will include a multipurpose hall, three classrooms, a music room, practice and meeting rooms, as well as a new parking space. We cannot wait to see this space come to life and use it to its full potential!

Our cheerleaders prepared a special performance and inspired us with their cheers, and of course, our mascot, Sid, proudly played a role as he handed over the shovels to mark the official groundbreaking moment.

With support from the Free State of Saxony, the City of Dresden, and generous contributions from our community, this project is now taking shape and will allow us to provide a modern learning environment and create new opportunities for our students and staff.

A special thank you goes to our Show Dance Group for performing, and to our DIS Fundraising Association for sponsoring the reception.
We thank all who joined us for this special occasion and look forward to sharing many more milestones with you as we continue to grow.
