We appreciate your interest in considering DIS for your next career move in education. Our school recruits teachers globally and locally through our website. In addition, vacancies are advertised with Search Associates (www.searchassociates.com). Most interviews occur in face to face meetings, via Skype and at recruitment fairs. During the pandemic most interviews take place virtually via GoogleMeet.

Dedicated Teachers

Ideal applicants should be committed to inquiry-based learning, computer literate, interested in the German language and culture and experienced in teaching second language learners. We require at least two years of full-time classroom experience, teacher certification and a degree in the subject area and/or grade level for which one is applying. Depending on the position, a native or near-native level of English is also essential. Our dedicated and professional staff understand the importance of individual needs and work closely with each child, at both an academic and personal level.

DIS promotes and maintains a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. As part of that commitment, we verify all previous employment and educational work listed on applications by contacting the schools and universities directly. We want to ensure that we have a comprehensive understanding of your professional history and experience. In addition, we require police background checks as important background information on all candidates. We hold ourselves to a high standard of recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection.

Professional Development

Highly skilled and well-trained education professionals are the foundation of quality teaching and learning, student achievement, and a vibrant school community. We recognize that there are many highly skilled and experienced education professionals at Dresden International School and that a hallmark of their professionalism is their commitment to continuous learning.

The School will provide ongoing professional development for its teachers with the goal of improving student learning. During the school year a range of opportunities will be offered for professional improvement which will serve both the individual professional needs of staff and the learning objectives and stated annual goals of the school.

Professional development at our school meets this objective by providing and supporting the continuous professional growth and development of all staff. Professional development supports the goals of the student, the school and the individual educator. High-quality professional development in an IB World School is important in enabling students to perform at the highest levels. Dresden International School seeks to provide a high-quality professional development programme for all members of its staff.

We support the staff in attending workshops and conferences off-site and online as well as providing numerous opportunities for teacher-facilitated learning on campus.

We are excited by what we have already achieved and even more excited by the possibilities ahead of us.
