At this point we want to ask for your support. More specifically, your contribution to our fundraising projects will enable DIS to continue its dedication to the DIS Mission, and ensure the future of continuing our history of academic excellence in international education. Your gift helps to build the future of DIS.
Why is it important to support DIS?
To create more opportunities for children and youth to “learn how to learn” in a school where diversity in the classroom is a normal way of life.
To ensure that more students in our school become critical and compassionate thinkers, so that they later become informed participants in local and world affairs
High percentage of DIS families are paying no or a reduced school fee. There is no selection of students based on their parent’s income. It is always about the student’s ability and if the student fits to the programme.
To support the economic development of Saxony, with DIS serving as a key “Standortfaktor”
To support a school that goes beyond intellectual rigour, by emphasizing the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship
To help create an international cultural centre in Dresden, where families of all nationalities can meet.
The school maintains a balanced budget, but thus far has not been able to set aside capital assessment fees as a capital reserve. Reason: Not-for-profit organization (GmbH mit Gemeinnützigkeitsstatus)
To meet the requirements for DIS as an International Baccalaureate World School, to be on the cutting edge of international education and to achieve accreditation status from CIS / NEASC, it is important to contribute to different school projects so that the school can ensure their quality.

New Extension Building
We are raising funds for our new extension building.
The construction of a new extension building on our school campus began in Summer 2025. This ambitious project is a significant step towards enhancing our learning environment and providing modern facilities for our students and staff. It will also increase our capacity by 90 students.
The new building, set to open in Winter 2027, will seamlessly connect the existing structures through bridges. It will feature:
three new classrooms
a music room
practice rooms
a multi-purpose room
a meeting (community) room
parking spots on the ground floor
The total costs for the building will amount to 6.8 million euros, with additional costs of 800,000 euros (for furniture, technology etc.). The funding for this project comes from:
Subsidies from the Free State of Saxony
Support from the city of Dresden
A bank loan
Generous donations from our community
With the construction, we also want to support the settlement and the associated immigration of qualified workers and their families in the Dresden region. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all supporters who are making this project possible and who have already donated.
The new multi-purpose room will be used for assemblies, exams, performances, exhibition and much more.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
On 18 June 2025, DIS reached an exciting milestone in its journey: we celebrated the official groundbreaking of the new extension building on our school grounds. Held on campus at Annenstr. 9, the event brought together Primary and Secondary students and teachers, staff, families, and guests in a joyful celebration of growth, community, and shared vision. We also had the pleasure of welcoming special guests, including the DIS Board, the Saxon State Minister of Education Conrad Clemens, and Dresden’s Mayor of Education Jan Donhauser. Enjoy watching the short video about this special event!
