Parent Council

The Parent Council is a group of parent representatives elected by other parents in the school. Each grade level is represented by a Parent Council member and a deputy who are parents from that grade level. The Parent Council has an important role to play in school improvement by ensuring that the parental perspective is represented and taken into consideration.

What do we do?

  • Support transparency and trust between the school and parents

  • Communicate parent's interests and concerns to the school
  • Ensure the parent perspective is considered in decisions-making processes

  • Maintain clear, structured and regular communication between school leadership and parent body

Objectives

  • To work together with the school to build and continuously improve upon a school environment that is inclusive to all parents.

  • To encourage partnerships between the school, students and all parents to enhance relationships and mutual understanding of the mutual goals for the school, parents and students.

  • To help with the development and implementation of key activities that add value to the students’ ongoing education and wellbeing.

How do I become a Parent Council member?

  • Election of the the Parent Council representative and their deputy takes place at the latest after the fourth week of the school year at DIS.
  • Interested parents can contact the Chairperson Dr. Henryk Bochmann at disparentcouncil[at]gmail.com to make themselves available to stand for election.
