The International Baccalaureate Programme

We offer the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and the Diploma Programme for students aged 3-19. Additionally, children aged 1-5 can benefit from our Preschool Programme.

Globally recognized, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes challenge students to excel in their studies and encourage both personal and academic growth and achievement. The programmes aim to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people motivated to succeed.

International and Local Students Learn Together

Our DIS community has grown steadily from 13 pupils in 1996 to 510 today. The youngest children learn and play at our Preschool housed in a wonderful historical villa with adjoining playground at Goetheallee 18, just a short distance from a gorgeous park (Waldpark). The students from K5 up to Grade 12 learn on the beautiful School Campus located in Dresden’s historic city center.

Outstanding Education

DIS provides an excellent education based on the International Baccalaureate Programme and philosophy. We are dedicated to intercultural understanding and the development of the individual talents. Our goal is to provide all children and students with an outstanding educational programme based on the highest international standards.

Recognition Worldwide

We at the Dresden International School are dedicated to ensuring all of our students receive the internationally recognized IB Diploma or DIS High School Diploma upon completion of the programme in Grade 12. The IB Diploma is recognized as the German Abitur. Additionally, students who would like to may receive the MYP Certificate at the end of Grade 10.

German recognition of the IB Diploma

In Germany, the International Baccalaureate Diploma is officially recognized by the Kultusministerkonferenz (the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs) as a valid university entrance qualification. All requirements for an IB Diploma to be recognized in Germany are listed in the Agreement on the Recognition of the "International Baccalaureate Diploma"last amended by the Kultusministerkonferenze in March 2019. DIS students receive support from the IB Diploma Coordinator and the University Counselor when selecting their diploma courses. German recognition is one of several important aspects considered in the course selection process.
