The next event will take place on Friday, April 20, 2018.
The last event in 2017 was a big success! Many families and friends - more than 200 people - joined the third African Night at DIS and had a wonderful time. Even the temperatures made us feel like being in Africa. Everybody was impressed by the great performances on stage from students of secondary school and PYP grades 2, 3, and 4 as well as our kindergarten kids. Overall we raised 2,100 Euro for the benefit of the two projects: Bakhita Girls and the Two Wings Primary School in Tanzania, which we have been supporting for several years now.
Bakhita Girls, founded by a former DIS student, is supporting young women’s education in Ifakara and is now planning to build a community center for total 10,000 Euro. In the meantime the initiative has become a project of the Dresden organization Akifra e.V. and is now able to reach more people.
Every donation helps! If you want to support the construction of the community center, please donate to:

Tax-deductible donation receipts can be written by Akifra e.V.
TWO WINGS PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Two Wings School provides primary education in English to financially deprived families in Iringa, Tanzania. Our fundraising project has been initiated by our Spanish teacher Mrs Uhia, who worked in Iringa and knows the school director personally. Currently, DIS supports the school with educational materials and funds for the buildings.
The 4th collection is running until December 20, 2017. The school needs all kinds of school equipment, e.g. notebooks and pencils. Please bring the material to our school campus reception or to Mrs Uhia's classroom A 2.9! We reassure that all materials will arrive in Iringa and that all students will unpack the boxes by themselves.
The Primary students at Two Wings are very grateful and are looking forward to receiving you donations!
