On 21 June our Preschool teacher Miho Karasawa-Moritz was honored with the Christa Peterson International Teacher Award. Congratulations!
This monetary award was established in 2012 in recognition of Ms. Christa Peterson, Dresden International School’s Board Chair from 1996-2011 and founding member of DIS. The award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in strengthening our school’s international-mindedness in such areas as effective instruction, curriculum development, resource management, sustainable professional and self-development, parental involvement, and local as well as international community outreach.
Miho dedicates herself to her students’ learning, makes strong connections with families, and continuously develops her teaching craft through professional development and trying out new strategies or ideas. She consistently and graciously acts as the liaison with the Japanese community. In addition to her regular duties this year, Miho took on the leadership role during the Preschool Coordinator’s vacations and absence due to Covid. She proved to be a conscientious and fair leader with attention to detail and upholding the values of DIS.
We are very proud of our talented, dedicated, and well-educated teachers who help make DIS a special place.
