Learning German Traditions

Early December all Grade 11 students learning German as a foreign language traveled to the “gingerbread city” Pulsnitz. In the local gingerbread museum, they baked and decorated their gingerbread cookies. They also got to experience the traditional blueprint method and created beautiful placemats. Our Grade 10 students created gingerbread houses during one lesson. It was a lot of fun! Learning about German traditions is an essential part of teaching German as a foreign language. It helps students understand the culture better and is also a lot of fun, especially when you taste Christmas treats.
