Teachers Engaged in Professional Learning

Early March our teachers were engaged in professional learning with Dr. Kendall Zoller, a consultant who specializes in communication, leadership, and school improvement. They have been working with Dr. Zoller for the last year to guide us in improving our communication and presentation skills, including a workshop to improve our virtual presentation skills. In this ongoing work, they are focusing on creating a collaborative and trusting school community. They learned how to maximize participation when we work in groups, the difference between dialogue and discussion, and the capabilities of group members when collaborating. As a learning organization, these skills are crucial to our success and most importantly, to our students’ success. We will continue with this work with Dr. Zoller through 2022 as part of the DIS strategic plan to foster effective communication for positive relationships within the DIS community and beyond.
