Dresden International School is the premier IB World School in Saxony offering a full-day programme for students from age one to Grade 12. Our school is a diverse community of learners that practice the highest standards of rigour in learning and teaching. We prepare students as successful international citizens, through a rounded education taught in English. Students become successful and independent learners and compassionate citizens, who are prepared for high academic achievement in school and in universities throughout Germany and worldwide.
Our values are the behaviours we develop and practice in our school.
We celebrate the start of the new school year. All DIS students, families and staff are invited to join the Welcome Back BBQ on Friday, 19 August 2022 after school. A great chance to reconnect with teachers and friends.
Our Preschool teacher Miho Karasawa-Moritz was honored with the Christa Peterson International Teacher Award. Congratulations! Miho dedicates herself to her students’ learning, makes strong connections with families, and continuously develops her teaching craft through professional development and trying out new strategies or ideas. We are very proud of our talented, dedicated, and well-educated teachers who help make DIS a special place.
After a three-year pause, our popular benefit tournament is finally taking place again. We are delighted to invite you to our annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the golf course Dresden-Ullersdorf. The funds raised will be spent on the modernization of our Student Science Labs. Register now for either the tournament or the beginner's course!
We are very proud of the successful journey of the class of 2022 reaching the IB with an average of 35 points, 97% passing rate, along with numerous individual success stories. 72% of our students obtained a Bilingual Diploma from the IB, with an average grade awarded to students of 5.5.
At DIS, every child is a winner in his/her own capacity and that is what we celebrated on our first Whole School Sports Day during the last week of school. Our young athletes gave each event their full effort and put forward an impressive display of grit and spirit. The students loved it and had lots of fun.
What a great festival! On 18 June, after a three-year pause, our school community came together to celebrate. Despite hot temperatures, the event had a huge turnout. Students, parents, and staff filled the school campus as they tried out foreign cuisines, took part in games, and enjoyed terrific live performances. It was great to see so many families back at the school campus.
The preschool students (ages 1-5) learn in a beautiful, historic villa with large grounds in Dresden-Blasewitz. The environment is child centred, based on best early childhood learning practices provided by highly qualified, dedicated and caring staff.
Students from Kindergarten and from Grade 1 to Grade 12 study at the school campus in Dresden-Altstadt. The modern campus facilities with a large sports hall offer excellent opportunities for students to progress in their learning successfully at all ages.
